Will they retire?

Will they retire?

Since last three decades or so our nation has hardly seen any politician retire gracefully, barring a few noble ones. The thick-skinned and selfish majority even after being rejected by the electorate, shamefully try to linger on in the political spectra. Even after establishing their wards in this game for power, such politicians never think of retirement. The age factor has never mattered to them, in fact, they silently try to hide their age. For example, say Tarun Gogoi, who I feel has achieved everything in his political life, but still aspires to dominate or be counted in today’s politics. He made his brother and son MPs, but is still refusing to vacate his position and allow someone new to take the helm. The greed and lust for power of such leaders are immense. The likes of Digvijay Singh, Lalu Yadav, Sharad Pawar, Farooq Abdullah, etc are some other glaring examples. It is due to their sticking on at whatever cost that their parties are hamstrung and national politics remains moribund. May better sense prevail upon them and their ilk!
