AHSEC Exempts Centre and Exam Fees of HS Students With Low Annual Family Income

GUWAHATI: On Thursday 11 November 2021, the board of Assam Higher Secondary Education Council has issued a notification that it has exempted the Examination fees and centre fees of HS examinees. The board mentioned the category of candidates who are declared free from paying any fees for the exam centre or for writing the examination.

The board of AHSEC has exempted the centre and examination fees for the Higher Secondary examinees from Government, Provincialized and recognized institutions. Apart from this, it has exempted the centre and examination fees for students whose parental annual income in the family is below 2 lakhs.

The controller of the Higher Secondary examination shared the information through a notification. In the notification released on Thursday, the controller of examinations said "This is for information of all concerned that, the centre and examination fees are exempted in respect of the examinees of Govt/Provincialized/Recognized institutions who are going to appear in the ensuing HS Final Examination 2022 and whose parental annual income do not exceed Rs 2 lakhs."

The AHSEC board in the notification has also informed the head of all institutions with the AHSEC board that exam instruction would be the same as the previous year.

Earlier the State Government has decided for the exemption of fees for students with poor financial background from form fill-up fee of the customary examination charged by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) and the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA).

In October 2021 Assam Education, Ranoj Pegu launched an online portal to maintain the records of the marks obtained by the students in the Half-yearly and Annual Examination conducted by different schools in Assam. The Minister had also inaugurated an online training session on Computer Education for computer teachers. The Assam Education Department has taken various measures through SEBA and AHSEC for the betterment of school education.

The AHSEC board has taken a good step of exemption of fees for HS examinees and this relaxation of fees will be beneficial for many to write the examination. With the rise of the COVID pandemic students has suffered a lot in their learning process along with paying fees in such situation.
