Akshay Kumar joins Rohit Shetty's cop universe with Sooryavanshi which he will begin shooting in 2019. The end credits introduction of the character in Simmba a la MCU style had Akshay talking to Bajirao Singham aka Ajay Devgn who helps Simmba in the film. That sparked a great deal of talk about the movie. Some days back there were reports that like Ranveer Singh's cop movie which may be a remake of junior NTR's Temper, Sooryavanshi is going to be a remake of a Tamil film referred to as Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru. However, Simmba director Rohit Shetty has squashed all the rumours by saying that Akshay Kumar's cop drama is going to be completely original.

Now the controversy is on concerning who will play the feminine lead opposite to Akshay Kumar within the film. Names from Katrina Kaif to Sonam Kapoor have been doing the rounds. As director Rohit Shetty had already made it clear that Katrina isn't reuniting with Akshay for the film after so many years. Their last film together was maybe Tees Maar Khan (2010). Of course, everybody desired it to happen however, Shetty rubbished the reports. As for Sonam, this news broke out today and Shetty is yet to react on that. Also, Rohit just met Kareena Kapoor recently and their picture together makes us wonder if he will incline towards the heroine of many of his movies, Kareena. Anything can be possible!

Ranveer Singh starrer Simmba, backed by Reliance Entertainment, Rohit Shetty Pictures and Dharma Productions, has become the biggest Bollywood box office earner for all three production houses by collecting Rs 350 crore globally in 16 days since its release. According to a statement from Reliance Entertainment, Simmba has entered the top 10 Bollywood films of all time in terms of net domestic box office.

Released on December 28, 2018, the film features Ranveer as a policeman. With Simmba, Rohit Shetty now holds a record of having eight consecutive films to enter the Rs 100 crore net domestic box office club. Shetty, who is happy the film is “roaring globally”, feels the success not only belongs to him but also to fans and the fraternity as a whole.

“It feels incredible to see the excitement and fabulous response of the audience for Simmba in cinema halls everywhere. I am very happy with the appreciation the film is garnering,” he said.

Shibasish Sarkar, Reliance Entertainment, commented: “Simmba has received great love from critics and audiences alike, globally.
