American Music Awards 2021 – BTS and Coldplay Team Up to Perform My Universe

The very popular South Korean BTS boy band and Grammy Award-winning British Rock Band Coldplay came together and rock the night of American Music Awards 2021 by performing their latest collaboration song 'My Universe' released on 24 September.

After a big gap in enjoying favourite bands on stage due to the global pandemic, the live shows are back with full swings as BTS and Coldplay win hearts by performing live in AMAs 2021. The two bands had a blast performing their latest song 'My Universe' together on the stage and fans had a magical time enjoying their performance.

The American Music Awards 2021 took place on Sunday night 21 November and the ceremony was aired live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The American Music Awards 2021 was hosted by Cardi B and other than the performance of BTS and Coldplay, the show also featured Tainy with Julieta Venegas, Tyler the Creator, Carrie Underwood with Jason Aldean, Olivia Rodrigo, Walker Hayes, Måneskin, Bad Bunny, Mickey Guyton, New Edition and New Kids on the Block and Kane Brown.

The American rapper Megan Thee Stallion was expected to perform with BTS at the American Music Awards 2021 but she was forced to drop out of the performance. In August 2021 Megan Thee Stallion has released the remix of the BTS hit song Butter and was she was expected to join in the performance of the song with BTS team members Jungkook, V, Jin, RM, Suga, Jimin and J-Hope.

On Saturday 20 November the rapper took to Twitter and tweeted that though she was excited about the gig with the septet, she had to drop out mentioning the reason in the tweet as an 'unexpected personal matter.' The song Butter has gained much attention after its release in the month of May this year as it was the most viewed video on YouTube within the time period of 24 hours. Butter has gained other success with the achievement of entering the Guinness World Records by becoming the most streamed song on the music platform of Spotify within 24 hours after its release.

In the American Music Awards 2021 for the song Butter, the BTS band has been nominated in the categories like Favourite pop song and Artist of the year and the band took a total of three prizes at home. Top nominee of the night of AMAs Olivia Rodrigo took home one of her seven awards, the new artist of the year.
