New Delhi: Bollywood actor Richa Chadha has been awarded the Bharat Ratna Ambedkar award 2020 for her significant contribution to Indian cinema.
The actor received the award from Maharashtra Governor, Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.
"I will hold and cherish this honour for a long time in my life. When you haven't had the guidance and have taken all your decisions by yourself, every award is a reiteration that you've done well for yourself", wrote the actor in her post.
The actor took to Instagram to express her joy and her thoughts at receiving the award:
Actor Chadha has never shied away from expressing her opinions in her social media accounts. After the democratic win in the US election, she wrote about Vice-president Kamala Harris.
She said, "Now a Black+Tamil woman is going to be in the White House! Even a cynic+anarchist in me will celebrate. Akka's got a foot in the door. Congratulations and thank you!"
She believes that the job of an actor goes beyond an entertainer's.
Richa Chadha is currently filming for her next upcoming movie called Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hain.
