Digital shows to look forward to in 2020

2019 has officially ended and 2020 has started. Last year we got to see some really great digital shows. Those seeking good content got what they wanted with shows like Delhi Crimes, The Family Man, Kota Factory streaming on our digital platform. To be honest, with this year, all our eyes are stuck on the digital platform as the bar has now been raised. While we have lost all our hopes from the small screen, we have minimal from the big screen and the most from our laptop/phone screens. So without beating around the bush, here’s a list of five digital shows we are most excited about. Before we get into the list, let us clear that we won’t be mentioning The Ghost Stories as it streams today.

n Baahubali: Before the Beginning

Baahubali: Before the Beginning is a prequel to SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali franchise and is based on Sivagami. While Ramya Krishnan played the character impeccably on the big screens, small screen wonder Mrunal Thakur steps to play the character from her younger days.

n Breathe 2

Breathe was one of the first big shows that got on board a big movie star, R Madhavan on the digital platform, which led to the mass exodus of Bollywood actors to the digital front. The second installment stars Abhishek Bachchan who makes his digital debut. The first part was daunting and kept us on the edge of our seat, and we can’t wait to experience the same once again.

n Tandav

If there is one show that finally brought the majority of the Indian audience to the digital side, it has to be Sacred Games. The first part streamed on Netflix starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Saif Ali Khan. The show went on to become a national craze, making the most difficult task of gluing the Indian audience to a streaming platform. So it is obvious that when Saif Ali Khan will be making yet another digital series, expectations would be at its peak. Touted as India’s response to The House of Cards, Tandav is said to see Khan as the modern Chanakya.

n Mirzapur 2

After Sacred Games, another show that was applauded by the critics and the masses in solitary was Mirzapur. Based in the criminal land, Mirzapur, the show gave the Indian audience an underbelly view of gangsters. The climax was heart-wrenching and the perfect cliffhanger for a season. The second season will hit the platform this year and we can’t wait to see what Guddu Bhaiya is planning to do.

n The Family Man 2

The underdog of last year, The Family Man was liked by the masses so much that within a month the second season went on floors. Now, we are not sure whether we are excited for what is going to happen in the second season or Samantha Prabhu’s digital debut, but we are damn excited about the project. (Agencies)
