Filmmaker Faces Wrath for Asking Girls to ‘Accept Rape’ by ‘Carrying Condoms’

Mumbai: It’s nothing new that rape is often normalized or if not the victim is being blamed in our country. We are also familiar with big politicians delivering disgusting comments on rape. In yet another such incident, a self-proclaimed filmmaker Daniel Shravan was slammed by netizens after he said women must "cooperate with rapists and carry condoms".

Daniel’s comment came after the pathetic Hyderabad veterinarian rape-murder case which has shaken the entire country. It may be mentioned here that a doctor in her mid-twenties was brutally raped and murdered in Hyderabad last week.

As the internet came down heavily on Daniel, he has now deleted his Facebook post asking to stop rape-related murders. In a bizarre comment, Daniel said that rape is not a serious thing, but murder is inexcusable. His comment apparently angered the social media users as screenshots of his post already went viral before he could delete the post. Daniel meanwhile has deactivated all his social media handles.

Daniel’s post read, “Girls above the age of 18 should be "educated" about rape, Daniel said in his post, adding a horrific line subsequently, and “Girls should not deny sexual desires of men". In that case, "these types of things will not happen.”

"Especially Indian girls should be aware of sex education (carrying condoms and dental dams after age of 18)," he said. Terming his line of thought as "simple logic", Daniel said, "When the sexual desire is fulfilled men wouldn't kill women."

He added that the "government should pass a scheme something like this to control deaths after rape". He also asserted that society, as well as the government, is "frightening rapists".

"Rapists are not finding a way to get their bodily sexual desires and getting these killing thoughts. An evil thought provokes crime (killing). Better women should accept men's sex," Daniel added in his post.
