“Ha Gulo”: Coke Studio Explorer Posts Kashmiri Song

As much as Kashmir is famous for its heavenly landscapes, ecstatic food and clothes, that much it is known for its music, but little bit more (than ‘that much’) now since Coke Studio Explorer has posted a new single that voices the musical flavours of Kashmir. It’s “Ha Gulo” and it is trending on YouTube with more than 3 lakh of viewers in just four days.

Coke Studio is known for its unbiased platform of music promotion for the music lovers. Those who have a knack for music, love for music and enjoy it, would definitely fall for the Coke Studio seasons. This platform has given a dias to several eminent and talented singers, musicians and instrumentalists, who are the pioneers in their own genre of music. In the pursuit of making the vocals and music of Kashmir heard, Coke Studio Explorer has posted a new single, “Ha Gulo” dedicated for their last episode of the season. This single is sung in Kashmiri language (completely).

Ha Gulo is a 70-year-old song/ poem written by Ghulam Ahmad Mehjoor, a famous poet of the state. The song is a perfect blend of folk music and electronic beats. It is performed by a group of musicians singing with Altaf Mir and group Qasamir. Meir, who was associated with Radio Pakistan as a broadcaster, now leads the band, Qasamir. The video featured performers donning typical Kashmiri attires singing together. It features instruments that are used, like Tumbaknari and Sarangi. Listen to this charming song, which is gathering love from many across the globe.
