CANBERRA: Following his discovery that he carries a genetic risk for Alzheimer's disease, Chris Hemsworth intends to spend more time away from the entertainment industry.

Since Avengers: Endgame, the Australian actor who gained stardom for his hard work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has enjoyed a successful career thanks to his portrayal of an Asgardian, the mighty 'Thor'.

Extraction, Spiderhead, Men in Black: International, and Thor: Love and Thunder are some of his most notable movies since that time.

The 39-year-old "Avengers" actor found out that he has two copies of the APOE4 gene in his DNA, which increases his risk of developing the progressive neurological disorder eight to ten times more than the average person.

This information was revealed in an episode of his new Disney+ docu-series "Limitless."

Hemsworth stated recently in an article that was released on Thursday that the knowledge motivated him to take more time off from work so that he could spend more time with his family.

He stated that it truly triggered something in him to want to take some time off," adding that he is still in the process of carrying out the professional duties for which he has been hired.

Now that his tour is coming to an end this week, he plans to return home, take some time off, and keep things simple. Be there for the kids and his wife.

The Australian actor continued by saying that when filming a "Limitless" episode about death, he realized he wasn't "ready to go yet." Hemsworth and his 46-year-old wife Elsa Pataky have three kids together: India, 10, and the twins Sasha and Tristan, who are 8 years old.

"Then you start talking about kids and family and going, 'Oh my God, they're getting older, they're growing up and I keep slapping another movie on top of another movie,' " he said.

"Before you know it, they're 18 and they've moved out of the house, and I missed the window," the actor said in an interview.

Hemsworth added that he is taking "a more curated approach" to his job selection and has grown more at ease canceling projects.

He also said If something's going to pull him away from his family and his kids, that must be a positive, constructive, collaborative experience.

And addition to that point the actor also assured that he is not thinking about retiring by any means.
