New Delhi: Marvel has released the official teaser for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, featuring the return of Evil Doctor Strange and Mordo which will be released in May 2022.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the sequel to Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange, which starred Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange and was released in 2016. Since then, the character has appeared in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Sam Raimi is directing the sequel.

Despite the fact that the narrative of Multiverse of Madness is unknown, the MCU film was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, where Marvel Studios also disclosed that Doctor Strange would be joined by Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). The MCU's current Sorcerer Supreme Wong (Benedict Wong), Dr. Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams), Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), and newbie America Chavez have all been confirmed to participate in the film (Xochitl Gomez).

The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness movie teaser has been released by Marvel Studios. The clip suggests that Multiverse of Madness would deal directly with the consequences of Doctor Strange's spells in Spider-Man: No Way Home, notably the one that messed with space and time and had an effect on the multiverse. The teaser also features Scarlet Witch's return, with Strange requesting her for assistance with the universe.

Meanwhile, it teases the return of Mordo, who left the Masters of the Mystic Arts at the end of the first film, and confirms the debut of Evil Strange aka Strange Supreme, who appears to be the same character introduced in Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp.

It's unclear from the trailer if Evil Strange or Mordo is the major villain of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Mordo warns Stephen that "the biggest threat to our universe is you," yet the trailer pans to Evil Strange, implying that Mordo is referring to simply Evil Strange - possibly all incarnations of Stephen Strange throughout the multiverse.

As a result, it's uncertain if Evil Strange is the true villain of Multiverse of Madness, or whether Mordo's adamant commitment in restoring cosmic balance by chasing down rogue sorcerers and seizing their skills makes him the larger menace to Doctor Strange.

In the trailer, Mordo apologises to Stephen, but there's also a quick glimpse of Mordo fighting Doctor Strange while the latter is restrained. Perhaps Mordo and Evil Strange are the antagonists in Multiverse of Madness, or Marvel has a different plan in mind, such as making Scarlet Witch the enemy. When the film's new footage is available, more will be revealed.
