HOLLYWOOD: Amid the ongoing Johny Depp defamation trial, the petition that calls to replace Amber Heard from her role in James Wan's Aquaman 2 has managed to collect 2 million signatures.

The Change.org petition titled 'Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2' started back in the month of December 2019 a few months after Depp first charged his ex-wife over an op-ed she mentioned about domestic violence.

However, in a recent development, the petition has received renewed support after every detail and the ugly truth about the relationship between Heard and Depp was aired in the courtroom.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star has suffered a lot in her career after the accusation made against him by Heard regarding domestic abuse. He was completely ignored in Hollywood after the matter came to light.

In the petition to remove Heard from Aquaman 2, Depp wrote that men are victims of domestic abuse as well just like women and this needs to be recognized.

The petition further reads that action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry. 'Do the right thing, remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2' added the petition description.

Last week in the courtroom, an audio clip was presented where Heard admitted to hitting Depp and the recording went viral within a short period of time.

Soon after this Depp gained public sympathy from the social media platforms and everything turned in favour of the petitioner. At present, the petition has 1,942,393 signatures from the time of writing.

Netizens have been continuously sharing the petition date back to March 2019 and by December of the same year, the total number of signatures reached 42,300.

Over the past few weeks, there have been several tweets that called for Heard to be removed from her upcoming project Aquaman 2.

It may be mentioned that the 35-year-old actress is currently preparing for her role of Meera in the 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' sequel scheduled to release on 17 March 2023. The film also cast Jason Mamoa and Willem Dafoe in important roles.
