MUMBAI: The release date of the Mohit Suri directed Ek Villain Returns has been announced today. The film will be released on February 11 next year. The film will star Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham, Tara Sutaria and Disha Patani in pivotal roles.

Earlier, Arjun Kapoor announced this upcoming film and confirmed the release dates. Sharing a poster of the film, the actor wrote, ", "Iss kahaani ka hero, villain hai! #EkVillainReturns, 11th Feb, 2022." Meanwhile, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria wrote, "Aapko shikayat ka mauka nahi denge... (we will not give you a chance to complain)."

His co-star John Abraham shared the same post.

The film will be produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms.

According to reports, the director Mohit Suri said that the actresses will be portraying negative characters in the film. He also mentioned that he and producer Ekta Kapoor are attempting to create on a whole series of interconnected antagonist and other different characters.

The film was reportedly titled 'Do Villain' earlier and was supposed to star Aditya Roy Kapur as one of the male leads. However, the actor who worked with Mohit Suri in Malang as well reportedly quit the movie over creative differences with Suri.

The 2014 prequel, Ek Villain, had Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead roles. It was produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor under Balaji Motion Pictures. It was released worldwide on 27 June 2014 and became a major box-office success with earnings of over ₹1 billion domestically and a worldwide gross of ₹1.7 billion.

Apart from the Ek Villain sequel, John Abraham has Satyameva Jayate 2 and Mumbai Saga coming up. Arjun Kapoor, meanwhile, is awaiting the release of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Bhoot Police. And, Disha Patani will next be seen in Salman Khan-starrer action movie Radhe.
