On Chris Hemsworth's birthday, find out why he named his daughter 'India'

Guwahati: Chris Hemsworth's relationship with India goes back effectively to the time when he visited the nation to shoot his movie Extraction.

He has a very old relationship with India and the interesting fact is that he has also named his daughter 'India'. A few people know about the story behind this name. He has told the reason behind his daughter's name, which we are going to reveal to you today. He said that his wife Elsa Pataky has spent a lot of time in India, which is why he has named his daughter India.

"My wife spent a lot of time in India and that was where the name originally came from," the actor who turns 37 on August 11 told sources.  Apart from India Rose, the couple have two more children - Sasha and Tristan.

Chris also loves India immensely and has also spent a lot of time in several cities in India. He came to India to shoot for 'Extraction' and spent time in Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The Hollywood actor also expressed his love for the people and the place.

In an interview, he stated "I love the people and this place. There used to be hundreds of people on the street every day and I never had such an experience on the set. There was excitement because there were so many people. I have good memories, energy, and positivity of the conversations I had with the people. It was really fun shooting there. We have never shot there before. Seeing the crew, it seemed that there were not many films shot in this way, so there was a kind of originality in it."

The actor was surprised by the popularity of his Marvel character Thor in India. In fact, directors Joe and Anthony Russo had said that while making Avengers: Endgame, they would often inspire themselves by watching in-theatre videos of Indian fans cheering at Thor's entry in Avengers: Infinity War.
