Today is the birthday of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, the Bharat Ratna Recipient. Honorable President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday wished legendary Indian playback singer and her 89th birthday, praying for her long life and good health.
"Birthday greetings and best wishes for a long and healthy life to Lata Mangeshkar, who has been honored with the Bharat Ratna. May her melodious voice continue to mesmerize millions across the world for years to come," Ram Nath Kovind tweeted.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called her “Lata Didi” and expressed his best wishes on her special day. He tweeted. "Respected Lata Didi, best wishes to you on your birthday. Your exceptional work, spanning decades has endeared you to crores of Indians. You have always been passionate about our country's development. May you lead a long life filled with good health,"
Lata Mangeshkar was born on 28 September 1929 into a musician family. She occupies a dignified position as an Indian playback singer and music director. She is considered as one of the best playback singers in India, who is widely respected and renowned.
This celebrated singer has recorded songs in more than a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over thirty-six regional Indian languages and foreign languages. But, she has sung most of her songs in Marathi and Hindi. This artist was also the first Indian to perform in Royal Albert Hall in 1974.
Lata Mangeshkar composed music for the first time in 1955 for the Marathi movie Ram Ram Pavhane. Her music direction includes:

She won Maharashtra State Government's Best Music Director Award for the film Sadhi Manase. The song "Airanichya Deva Tula" from the same film received best song award.

She is the receiver of three National Film Awards, 12 Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, two Filmfare Special Awards, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and the list goes on. Another achievement of this melodious voice is The Dadasaheb Phalke Award. In the year 1989, the Government of India bestowed her with this prestigious award.
In 1974, The Guinness Book of Records listed Lata Mangeshkar as the most recorded singer in the history. The Guinness Book of Records stated that she recorded "not less than 25,000 solo, duet, and chorus-backed songs in 20 Indian languages" between 1948 and 1974.
