Today is the birthday of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, the Bharat Ratna Recipient. Honorable President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday wished legendary Indian playback singer and her 89th birthday, praying for her long life and good health.

Lata Mangeshkar was born on 28 September 1929 into a musician family. She occupies a dignified position as an Indian playback singer and music director. She is considered as one of the best playback singers in India, who is widely respected and renowned.

This celebrated singer has recorded songs in more than a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over thirty-six regional Indian languages and foreign languages. But, she has sung most of her songs in Marathi and Hindi. This artist was also the first Indian to perform in Royal Albert Hall in 1974.

Lata Mangeshkar composed music for the first time in 1955 for the Marathi movie Ram Ram Pavhane. Her music direction includes:

In 1974, The Guinness Book of Records listed Lata Mangeshkar as the most recorded singer in the history. The Guinness Book of Records stated that she recorded "not less than 25,000 solo, duet, and chorus-backed songs in 20 Indian languages" between 1948 and 1974.
