Guwahati:

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on May 15, weighing in on the global COVID-19 crisis, said that the "challenge will only become greater" in the days to come.

"However, people should not be dejected and panicked because even though the number of infections increase, we have to remember if we maintain social distance with a mindset to help each other, the society will be salvaged from this crisis", Sonowal said while addressing mediapersons in Guwahati today.

"We will have to face this with patience because the COVID-19 is an atypical phenomenon", Sonowal said, and thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking precautionary steps in advance.

Sonowal also attested that the Government is with anyone who is stranded outside and is prepared to bring them back. For that purpose, Sonowal said, the Government has to be informed about the whereabouts of the persons. "We are always with them. The Government is always with them. We simply have to be informed", the CM said.

It is worth mentioning here that the Assam Government has so far counted 86 infections, 2 deaths. 40 people have been discharged, while 43 cases are active, and 1 person has been migrated outside the state thus far.
