1059 gaon panchayat secretary posts lying vacant in Assam

GUWAHATI: In an aggregate of 2197 goan panchayats in Assam, 1059 secretary posts are lying vacant at present.

The sources of Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) informed that they have taken initiatives for filling up secretary posts in the gaon panchayats.

The department said, “We have already submitted all the required documents to Assam District Recruitment Commission (ARDC) to fill up 578 secretary posts out of 1059. Some of the remaining posts will be filled up on the basis of promotion, while some of them will be filled up through direct recruitment. And the qualification for the posts is B. Com. However, we have not planned to promote the already working B. Com. employees to the secretary posts.”
