108 Mrityunjoy  employees’ strike enters 5th day, solution remote

GUWAHATI: The indefinite strike launched by the All Assam 108 Mrityunjoy Employees’ Association to protest against the exploitation and various issues related to the service from Tuesday night has entered 5th day on Saturday. A solution expected from GVK (EMRI) authority however is still a distant dream. What surrounding the situation nothing other than allegation and counter allegation over the issues.

Notably, the indefinite strike participated by numbers of drivers, emergency medical technicians and emergency response officers of the GVK (EMRI) has resulted in a severe halt on the emergency services across the state.

Speaking to The Sentinel on the ongoing imbroglio, former general secretary of the All Assam 108 Mrityunjoy Employees’ Association Suren Deka said that by publishing advertisement for recruitment against the posts of the striking employees, the authority has aggravated the situation from bad to worse. “It says enough that the GVK (EMRI) is holistic enough to find an amicable solution to their grievances. Instead, the authority is threatening the employees,” he said.

Stating the GVK (EMRI) is even daring to pacify the guideline of the Labour Commission, Deka said the Hyderabad-based GVK-EMRI has been breaking the service and labour rules and the company shows interest in earning profits than service. It must be mentioned here that due to the indefinite strike, numbers of ambulance has been in halt in different districts across the state in which the people in trouble are becoming the receiving end. Due to the strike health department has failed to provide emergency services in across the state of Assam.
