14 Railway Staff Awarded For Extraordinary Service

GUWAHATI: Fourteen railway staff namely Raman Kumar Singh, Technician- Grade-II/Samsi under Katihar Division, Sukanta Das, Constable/RPF/New Coochbehar under Alipurduar Division, Dibyendu Ghosh, Head Constable/RPF/New Alipurduar under Alipurduar Division, Deo Kumar Singh, Sr Asst Loco Pilot/New Bongaigaon under Rangiya Division, Wokil Gosai, Track Maintainer /Chaterhat under Katihar Division, Rakesh Kumar Ravi, Track Maintainer /Salmari under Katihar Division, Man Lal Yadav, Track Maintainer /Nijbari under Katihar Division, Gobinda Karmakar, Track Maintainer /Samsi under Katihar Division, Tarun Kumar, Track Maintainer /Samsi under Katihar Division, Sanjib Murmu, Track Maintainer / Dholbaja under Katihar Division, Ramjatan Kamti, Track Maintainer / Dalkhola under Katihar Division, Nikesh Kr Mishra, Track Maintainer / Mathabhanga under Alipurduar Division, Rupkumar Biswas, Track Maintainer / Mathabhanga under Alipurduar Division, Ganesh Dome, Track Maintainer / Mathabhanga under Alipurduar Division, were awarded by Sanjive Roy, General Manager, NF Railway for showing exceptional devotion towards duty.

On March 14, 2019 Deo Kumar Singh, was working train No13248 Rajendranagar – Kamakhya Capital Express. The train got detained at Naranarayan Bridge due to pulling of alarm chain and resultant brake binding at 08.50 pm during night, when he released the brake and the train started safely. Due to his dedication and sincerity a mishap was averted.

On February 28, 2019 Sukanta Das, while performing duty at New Coochbehar station, recovered a left behind lady’s bag containing Identity card, Pan card, Aadhar card and cash to the tune of Rs 1,01,500. The bag along with all belongings was handed over to the said passenger later on after verifying authenticity. Due to their sincerity and honesty the passenger got back her valuable belongings.

On March 5, 2019 Ganesh Dome, Rupkumar Biswas and Nikesh Kr Mishra were performing duty as gateman at LC gate no. NJ-39, NJ-40 and NJ-43. While on duty, they noticed hammering sound coming from coach no- 19104 of a goods train. They immediately informed the same to on-duty Station Master. The said train was checked and flat tire beyond permissible limit was found and the coach was detached. Due to their alertness accident was averted.

Eight other staff, mostly track maintainers was also awarded for detecting “rail fracture” in various locations leading to avoidance of probable mishaps. In recognition of their meritorious service for preventing accidents, all of them were awarded with a cash award along with a certificate by General Manager, NF Railway.
