142 persons arrested, 103 cases registered in connection with anti-CAA violence

GUWAHATI: The City Police has so far registered 103 cases and arrested 142 persons in connection with the anti-CAA violence. One case related to making objectionable posts in social media has also been registered. Cases have been filed in different police stations in the city.

Commissioner of Police, Guwahati Munna Prasad Gupta said even though the police and administration are strictly monitoring the present situation every day, permission to carry out democratic peaceful movement is being granted on conditions. He said the police is also monitoring social media constantly to prevent its misuse to create unrest in the society.

Gupta said there is a need to strengthen the cyber cell of the police further. On the issue of snatching of cash from ATMs, jewelry from citizens, Gupta said the police is taking help of CCTVs installed by different agencies to catch the culprits. He said the police patrolling has been intensified in various city localities.
