2 Home Guard Personnel Arrested In Stealing Mobile Handsets

GUWAHATI: An FIR lodged by one Raju Prasad Upadhyay in Bhangagarh police station on February 17 has led the police to a baffling discovery – two home guard personnel on duty in the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) are involved in stealing of mobile handsets.

On February 16 Upadhyay lost his mobile handset in the GMCH. He lodged an FIR (Case No. 26/19 under section 380 IPC) in the Bhangagarh police station on February 17. The investigators, according to police sources, arrested mobile set thief Habil Uddin (22). Based on the confessional statement of Habil, the police arrested two home guard personnel – Akram Ali (32) and Ajibur Rahman (35). While two stolen mobile sets were recovered from Akram, one was recovered from Ajibur and five from Habil. A wristwatch was also recovered from Habil. A few more are also being interrogated. All the three hail from Chhaygaon.
