200-bed COVID care centre is coming up in Guwahati Central Jail soon

GUWAHATI: A 200-bed COVID care centre is coming up in Guwahati Central Jail soon, said Inspector General of Prison (IG, Prison) Dasharath Das.

Das said that the COVID care centre is coming up in the prison with logistic support from the NHM (National Health Mission). He said that 435 inmates of the prison have tested corona positive. Tests were conducted to swab samples of as many as 1,222 inmates of the jail.

A four-member team of doctors have been deputed to the prison on Monday. While all asymptomatic corona patients of the jail will be kept in this care centre, the symptomatic ones will be admitted to the GMCH.
