GUWAHATI: The second instalment of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) under the special package announced by the Central government with the aim to financially help the poor during the pandemic situation has been released.
Rs. 500 each has been deposited directly to the bank accounts of 8,48,642 beneficiaries by the P&RD (Panchayat and Rural Development) department.
It is to be mentioned that aged people, widows and differently able people who have been selected as beneficiaries for the pension scheme under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) have also been selected as beneficiaries for this financial assistance under the PMGKY scheme.
All the beneficiaries will receive a total of Rs. 1,000 each. The first instalment of Rs. 500 each has already been deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries in the month of April. Among the beneficiaries, 7,01,586 are elderly pensioners, 1,11,596 are widow pensioners and 35,492 are differently-abled people.
