31 Arrested for Pulling Alarm Chain of a Running Train Needlessly

GUWAHATI: Over the last seven days, from October 8 to 14, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested 31 persons allegedly for stopping a running train needlessly pulling of the Alarm Chain without any valid reason or emergency. The arrested persons were prosecuted under section 141 of the Railways Act. On the other hand, during the same period as many as 211 ticketless travellers were also detected and fine to the tune of Rs. 1, 30, 061 was realized from offenders.

In the meantime, the crime investigation team of the RPF, Guwahati Railway Station also conducted raid at the Prakash Travel Agency located at Paltan Bazar on October 10 allegedly for selling railway e-tickets. During the raid, one Biswajit Kundu (30) was apprehended and recovered 8 nos of e-tickets worth Rs. 6,120 generated by using his personnel ID. The team also seized a mobile phone and Rs. 20,400 in cash. Meanwhile, a case no. 964/18 u/s 143 of Railway Act has been registered at the RPF post, Guwahati railway station.
