Guwahati: Hotels, clubs, and restaurants in Guwahati to stay open till midnight for New Year revellers as Kamrup district administration has relaxed limitations imposed on Covid management

Pallav Gopal Jha, the Deputy Commissioner of the Kamrup Metro, stated on Thursday that keeping their facilities open until the middle of the night requires prior authorization.

"It means pubs, restaurants, and hotels can stay open till midnight on New Year's Eve if they get permission from the district authorities," Jha explained.

He also mentioned that on December 31st, a Task Force was constituted to keep an eye on drunk driving and other offenses by citizens of Guwahati

He also stated that after the night curfew is lifted on December 31, there will be no limitations on travel around the city. 

During this time, the country has seen 16,764 new instances of corona. During the same time period, 220 persons died. Corona has also been cured in 7585 persons. The number of Omicron cases in the country has already reached 1270.

According to Ministry of Health data, the new Corona type, Omicron, has spread to 23 states. It has received a total of 1270 cases. Maharashtra has the highest number of instances, with 450. In Delhi, 320 cases of Omicron had been reported at the same time. Kerala is in third place with 109 cases. Throughout the previous 24 hours, 66,65,290 doses of vaccination have been provided in India, according to the Ministry of Health.

Following this, the total number of vaccinations administered in the country surpassed 144.54 crore doses. Currently, the country's recovery rate is at 98.36%. The optimism rate is 0.89 per cent on a weekly basis. For the past 47 days, it has been less than 1%.
