GUWAHATI: The Director of Northeast Heritage Foundation Rajkumar Prithviraj Narayan Dev Mech and the Executive Director of Northeast Heritage Foundation Thulunga Basumatary had filed a PIL (22/2019) at Gauhati High Court, to evict all such foreign immigrants encroaching the land belonging to the protected tribal communities as per the Assam Land Revenue and Regulation Act 1947.

At a press communiqué on Saturday, Mech informed that as per the data, there are 4.50 lakh bighas of tribal belts and blocks in the BTAD regions, which are encroached by non-tribal communities. “There is a threat to the Indian National Soverignity and the Internal Security of India but it is rather upsetting that Urkhao Gwra Brahma, who despite being from the tribal organization, is trying to suppress the rights of the tribal communities.

He even took it a step further by standing in the same line as that of the foreign immigrants by holding the hand of AIUDF President Badruddin Ajmal, purely out of his petty political interests. He is also misleading the Bodo organizations like the All Bodo Students’ Union and the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Progressive)”, alleged Mech.

Mech further said that the foreigners encroaching in tribal belts should be immediately disenfranchised from the electoral roll as they have been planning their citizenship right by establishing their residency through illegal occupation of tribal belts.
