40 kg ganja seized; one held in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: Acting on information received, a West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) team from the Fatasil Ambari Police Station led by the ACP Azara intercepted a car near the PWD office at Fatasil Ambari and recovered 40 kg of ganja on Sunday.

According to police sources, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Pradip Deka of Mazbat in Udalguri, has been arrested.

According to eyewitnesses, the car was stationary for quite some time and there four people inside the vehicle. However, three of them managed to flee when the police team arrived on the spot. Meanwhile, a team of the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) from the Geetanagar Police Station on Saturday recovered a soap box filled with 13 gm of heroin from the Satgaon area of the city.
