GUWAHATI: The Greater Guwahati Unit (GGU) of North East India Petroleum Dealers' Association (NEIPDA) has called for a closure of petrol pumps in Greater Guwahati area in support of its 10-point charter of demand from 6 am of October 22 to 6 am of October 24.

The NEIPDA protested against the placement of tanker trucks under expression of interest (EOI), frequent refusal of contractors to load tankers at their whims, entry of dealer/ retail outlet staffto escort from tanker parking area, illegal deduction from SAP account, forceful selling of lubricants by HPCL, unauthorized and faulty automation, blending of ethanol, in equal credit facility, personal information in e-ledger and legal position of the oil marketing companies vis-a-vis dealer.

In a statement here on Wednesday, NEIPDA president Rajib Goswami said that the tankers of the dealer transporters under EOI has not been allowed to be placed despite the EOI being accepted by the company due to which heavy loss has been incurred as most of the tankers of the dealers are idle though they are paying on EMI on regular basis on the financial assistance availed by them in purchasing the vehicle.

The tankers of those other dealers transporters who are willing to purchase tankers for their own requirement and use may be allowed to submit EOl and who missed earlier opportunity to apply for tankers under dealer consortium to allow all such dealers to place their own tankers in furtherance of business of both the parties, Goswami said.

He further said that the supply and distribution of the product has always been dealt with by the company through its distributors, the forceful imposition of the company on the dealer to sell such Lubricant is arbitrary and inconsiderate inasmuch as there are many customers who do not intend to purchase lubricant in the retail outlets.

Goswami also said the blending of ethanol has been another matter of concern for the dealers of the city.

"Though we do not object to the implementation of such Centre policy the dealers must be assured that they are not harassed for any detection of water content in the underground tank at the retail outlet for no fault of ours, and due to the presence of the water if the quantity of blended portion of the ethanol gets converted into water and raises the water content then the dealer must be compensated and the extra water present in the underground tank must be pumped out at the cost of the OMCs," he said.
