GUWAHATI: Noted social worker Alhaj Siddique Rahman, an octogenarian, was felicitated publicly by over 50 organizations in the Hatigaon-Sijubari area in Guwahati on Sunday.

The organizers handed him over a book named 'Upahar' on his life and deeds. The book was released by Padmashree Dr. Ilius Ali. Present on the occasion were Chief Doloi of BileswarDevalayaRanjit Mishra and educationist Meera Bhattacharya. He was presented a copy of his life-size portrait.

Speaking at function, Dr. Ali said, "I personally know AlhajSiddiqueRahman as a devoted and dedicated social worker."

Some of the organizations that felicitated Rahman were Greater HatigaonRongaliUtsav Inaugural Committee, Greater HatigaonSarbojoninDurga Puja UdjaponSamittee, BrihattarHatigaon (Namghar) Durga Puja UdjaponSamitee, Hatigaon-SijubariIdgahParichalanaSamiti, Hatigaon Police Station, SijubariKabarstanParichalanaSamiti, HatigaonRajohuwaNamgharParichalanaSamiti, HatigaonMahilaSamiti, Goria-Moria-DeshiJatiyaParishad's Guwahati Mahanagar Committee etc.

A number of people from BoyoraSolmari in Nalbari district, his place of birth, also took part at the felicitation function.

SiddiqueRahman was nostalgic. "What I got today is enough to make me work for the society rest of my life," he said.
