6th North East Graduate Congress Kicked Off By Former UPSC Chairman Prof. D P Agarwal

GUWAHATI: Amidst a mega conglomeration of thousands of college students coming from all over the north-eastern states, Prof. D P Agarwal, Former Chairman, UPSC, New Delhi formally inaugurated the 6thedition North East Graduate Congress (NEGC) at the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM). A galaxy of nationally acclaimed personalities ranging from youth icons, intellectuals, academia, cultural and sports icons, politicians, and motivational speakers have addressed NEGC that aims at grooming the youth of the region with a holistic approach.

Addressing an unprecedented gathering of several thousand college students in the Central Auditorium at USTM, Hardik Patel, the youth leader from Gujarat said that quality education, inexpensive education and youth development are the three important things that the youth of today want. Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, former Chief Minister, Assam; Rohit Chahal, National Media In Charge, BJP (Youth Wing) and Allantry Dkhar, Vice President of UDP, Meghalaya also delivered passionate speeches on the occasion.

More than 10,000 students witnessed the gala beginning of 5th NEGC with the cultural manifestations of eight sister states of the region. Each state of North East was represented by the students of 40 communities belonging to the entire region, each state displaying indigenous cultural presentation with indigenous costumes.

Separate sessions were held simultaneously at different venues at USTM. Session on personality development by renowned motivational speaker Thomas John Rose,Prof. D P Agarwal, Former Chairman of UPSC took a session on ‘Decision Making Process: Role of Youth in Context with NE Region”, a press release stated.
