GUWAHATI: The 7th edition of Rongali, an event that showcases the diversity, creativity and entrepreneurship in Assam will be organized from April 20-April 23 at the Veterinary College Ground in Khanapara. This event is expected to showcase cultural harmony and creative talents and create market opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

“We are glad to announce the 7th edition of Rongali. Rongali is known for showcasing the tribes and communities of Assam, tourism destinations, art, fashion, food, and the biggest music festival of Northeast India,” said Shyamkanu Mahanta, the main organizer of Rongali.

The previous six editions of the event had been attended by lakhs of people. It has also become the launch pad for talented artists and designers as it has a footfall of people from across the country.

This edition of Rongali will present the spectacular culture of the north-eastern region. In addition to dance performances, Rongali will present the biggest music festival of Northeast India, with well-known names such as Zubeen Garg, TabaChake, About Us of Nagaland, and some of India’s popular musical names set to perform. The festival will also feature a Bihu husori competition, with around 300 artistes performing Bihu dance and husori.

It will also showcase the traditional cuisines of the region with a focus on the tribal cuisines of the region. A cooking competition on vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and sweet dish forms will also be organized.

With the vision of Himanta Biswa Sarma to promote the local producers in mind, Rongali 2023 will have a large exhibition of MSME industries of Assam and the rest of Northeast India, with around 200 stalls presenting the best of agri-horti, food processing products, cane, bamboo, handloom and handicrafts, industrial products and startups which will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister.

Apart from generating business opportunities, this event will also have an art exhibition to provide a stage for the artists of the region. Book adda, regional cinema showcase, open mic and discussions among experts from various sectors will be organized during the event. Renowned entrepreneurs of the region, including Abu Metha, Jayanta Baruah, Ranjit Barthakur and Sanjive Narain will also be felicitated during the event.
