832 Posts of Sub-Inspector (SI), 6,611 of Constable Vacant

GUWAHATI: The Assam Police has 832 posts of sub-inspector (SI) and 6,611 posts of constable (armed/unarmed/driver) lying vacant.

State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary informed the State Assembly of this on Monday. He said this while replying to a question from Congress MLA Jakir Hussain Sikdar. Patowary replied to the query on behalf of the Home Minister. Patowary informed the House that advertisement has been published for the filling up of 490 SI posts, and efforts are on to fill up the vacant posts of constable by this year. According to the minister, the Border Organization has the highest number of SI posts (194) lying vacant, followed by SB (116).
