A R Rahman to Perform in Guwahati on February 1

GUWAHATI: In what is being called by the organisers as possibly the biggest musical event of the region, the date of the Concert for Peace has been declared to be February 1 on Saturday. The event will take place in the Assam Cricket Association ground located in the Sarusajai region of the city of Guwahati.

According to the announcement, tickets are now available online on Book My Show and Paytm Insider. The prices of these tickets are said to start at Rs 2000 and go upto Rs 150000. Rs 3000, Rs 4000, Rs 5000, Rs 6000, Rs 10000 Rs 15000 and Rs 20000 tickets are also available for the event.

Music enthusiasts from all over the region have expressed their wish to attend this event. While sports enthusiasts of the region have expressed their doubts regarding possible damages to the ground because of the event, Debajit Lon Saikia the Joint Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and former Secretary of the Assam Cricket Association mentioned that proper precautions have been taken to prevent that.

The stadium has a total capacity of 35000 and this event is expected to have a full house. The organisers mentioned that proper steps have been taken in order to manage traffic as well as public movement at the event. According to the organisers, the setting up of the equipment will take about ten days and A R Rahman will be arriving in the city three days before the event.

The Sarusajai Cricket stadium will also host the one-day international cricket match between India and Sri Lanka on January 10 ahead of this musical concert. The match will start in the afternoon and end at night. Several steps have been taken to prevent untoward incidents including the entrance of snakes into the play area as in the previous international match on the same ground.

The Concert for Peace has been presented by Pride East Entertainments Pvt Ltd and 91 Yards Club.
