AANTSU Demands Removal of Non-Tribal Villages from Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC)

GUWAHATI: Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) elections are scheduled to be held on January 21, 2109. The All Assam Non-Tribal Student’s Union (AANTSU) expressed certain concerns regarding the Council elections.

The inclusion of non-tribal revenue villages in the upcoming RHAC elections has been condemned by AANTSU. They alleged that the government is holding one-sided decision in the elections.

AANTSU General Secretary Jyotish Kalita said, “We previously demanded that the revenue villages that hold more than 50% of non-tribals should not be included in the council. As the government has not consented to the proposal, they should clarify their true motives.”

“We desire that the whole South Kamrup area be included in the State Capital Region Development Authority (SCRDA), 2016 and the Advisory Board should also include non-tribal people”, Kalita added.
