AASCSU demanded One-time aid for SC BPL families

GUWAHATI: The All Assam Scheduled Caste Students' Union (AASCSU) submitted a memorandum to the Minister of Welfare for Backward Classes & Plain Tribes demanding one-time assistance of Rs 50,000 for the BPL people of the community.The memorandum was submitted through the Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Assam.

The AASCSU also demanded that the Anusuchit Jati students should be provided scholarships and the Schedule Caste people who are returning to State due to unavailability of work should be assisted with Rs 20,000. In the memorandum, general secretary Deba Kumar Das and in-charge president D. Das stated that the condition of the people of the Schedule Caste community is very bad. They are not being able to move forward in various sectors as the schemes announced by the government are not in their interest.
