DIMORIA/GUWAHATI: The anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) agitation of the AASU (All Assam Students’ Union) sees no end. Under the aegis of the Dimoria Anchalik Chatra Santha, the students’ body sounded the ‘Khilanjiar Ronodonka’ (war bugle) at Dimoria High School on Wednesday at the call of the AASU and 30 other ethnic organizations, besides the artiste fraternity.

Addressing the rally, AASU president Dipanko Kumar Nath said, “The sons of the soil are on way to be minority on their own land with the burden of foreigners. The government is out to kill the dignity of the Assamese by forcibly imposing the CAA on them. However, we’re not going to accept the CAA. People of the entire Northeast have been opposing the CAA. Jittery over the situation, the government is now taking out peace processions by spending crores of rupees. The people of Assam, however, are not going to surrender before the government.”

Noted advocate Nekibur Zaman, artiste Manas Robin, and local AASU leaders were present at the rally that was attended by around 10,000 people.

Meanwhile, the Beltola unit of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) took out a protest procession against the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) from Basistha to Dakshin Borsojai in Guwahati on Wednesday. A protest meeting was also held at the Maidam Durga Mandir field where AASU’s state executive member Simanta Thakuria, advocate Satyen Sarma, artiste Ajay Phukan and others spoke. Members of various organizations of the Beltola area took part in the protest.
