GUWAHATI: Two units of the AASU (All Assam Students' Union) – the Gauhati University unit and the Law College unit – have moved the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university with a slew of issues concerning examinations and fees.

The two AASU units have said that even as the UGC (University Grant Commission) did issue a notification for holding examinations, the GU authorities are yet to decide as to what mode of examinations they will adopt, and that the students are anxious of that. The student bodies have urged the university authorities to decide a mode of examinations that's goes in sync with time in consultation with the students' representatives. They have also said that since people face acute cash crunch due to the corona lockdown, students' fees should be exempted.

The students' bodies have further told the university authorities that it should be taken into consideration while taking any decision on examinations that the academic year should not be missed as that has much to do with various competitive examinations. They have also demanded immediate declaration of all semester exams and law exams, besides sanitizing the place in the university that was used as quarantine centre and supply furniture.
