Advantage Assam: Global Investors’ Summit Attracted Investment Worth Rs 8,020.21 crore, claims Industry and Commerce Minister

Guwahati: A total of 207 Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) have been signed during the Advantage Assam summit, stating this at the 14th Assam Autumn Assembly Session, Industry and Commerce Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary on Saturday claimed the mega-trade exposition Advantage Assam: Global Investors’ Summit had managed to attract investment worth Rs. 8,020.21 crore.

Minister Patowary while replying to a question by AGP legislator, Pabindra Deka in state assembly stated at least 34 investors have expressed their interest to invest in Assam and submitted proposals to the Industry and Commerce department.

The BJP Government also claims that around Rs. 39,951.65 investment is on the pipeline.

He also said that out of 207 MoUs signed during the summit last year, ten have already been grounded which involves investment worth Rs. 6,575.84 crore.

“Another 34 other units, which were not a part of the 207 MoUs signed during the Summit, have also been grounded with an investment of Rs. 1,441.37 crore.

Furthermore, the Minister informed that the Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) has allotted 22267.6 square/ meter of an area to 17 industrial units, who have applied for lands under the MoUs signed during the Investment Assam Summit held last year.
