AIIMS Guwahati to Set New Benchmarks for Medical Campuses in India

GUWAHATI: The upcoming All India Institute of Medical Sciences is one of the signature projects of the Government of India's PMSSY that aims to elevate the quality and access of public health systems in India.

The institute accommodates 750-bedded state-of-the-art multi-speciality hospitals, a Medical College (at the undergraduate level and PG/Doctoral Courses in various speciality/super-speciality disciplines) and Nursing College, AYUSH Block, auditorium, night shelter, guest house, hostels, and residential facilities across 15,00,000 sq ft.

Designed on the principles of climate-responsive architecture, the project aims to achieve a GRIHA 5 star rating, setting new sustainable design benchmarks.

A few distinctive facets of this project include catering for different functional requirements of various end-users with creative indoor spaces, surroundings, better circulation and flexibility in space planning.

The project is being implemented based on an EPC model. Creative Designer Architects, established leaders in healthcare, commercial and residential sectors, have been actively involved in the design concept and the detailed design phase.

Notably, the construction work has been in full swing since 2021 and is expected for completion this year.

Further, as per reports, Dr Ramji Singh M.D., Executive Director AIIMS Kalyani has been entrusted with an additional charge of Director AIIMS Guwahati.

"It is an honour to be the Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Guwahati, an Institute of National Importance (INIs) in India. AIIMS Guwahati is one of the AIIMSs established under Phase-V of Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). It is a great pleasure and privilege to be associated with the first AIIMS in the North-East of India at Guwahati.

The mission and vision of AIIMS are based on Education, Research and Patient care, which can be achieved by the combined effort of faculty, staff, and students. We as a team hope that the future will adulate us when we shall prove ourselves as a highly versatile provider of a safe and comprehensive suite of health-related services, with a performance-driven approach and a formidable clinical portfolio, " he added.

Dr Ramji Singh also added, "As the Director and CEO of the Institute, I am committed to continuing the standards of the Institute and believe in sustainable continuous improvement.
