Ailing Bharat Chandra Narah to vote in Parliament in presidential poll

GUWAHATI: The Election Commission of India (EC) has accorded permission to Congress MLA from the Naoboicha constituency of Assam, Bharat Chandra Narah, to cast his vote in the presidential election in the Parliament instead of the Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA).

According to a press release issued by the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Wednesday, Narah has been allowed to do so because he is currently undergoing medical treatment in Delhi and will not be able to return to Assam by July 18, the day of the presidential election. Narah had earlier apprised the ALA authorities about his inability to cast his vote in the State.
