GUWAHATI: State BJP has alleged KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi of carrying out agitations in assisting illegal immigrants in the state. State BJP Spokespersons, Mominul Aowal, Swapnanil Barua and Bijon Mahajan addressed a press conference at the office of BJP on Thursday.
Addressing the media, Aowal categorically named Akhil Gogoi to be the proprietor of current agitations in assisting illegal Bangladeshi immigrants so that they can make Assam their homeland. He appealed to the people of the State not to listen to falsehood as being propagated by Gogoi and his coterie.
Swapnanil Barua’s emphasis was on constitutional safeguard pertaining to the high power committee constituted by the Central Cabinet. He stated that whatever has happened has never happened since 1985.
Mahajan referring to Clause 6 of Assam Accord said that the clause has no whisper as regards reservation for the indigenous people in Assembly and Panchayat. Further, he opposed the band culture as it was declared unconstitutional and illegal by the Apex Court and later Guwahati High Court, a press release stated.
