GUWAHATI: On the fifth day of the Budget Session of Assam Legislative Assembly, All Assam Recognised M E Teacher’s Association (AARMETA) 2005 staged a sit-in protest upholding various demands at Dispur Last Gate, here in the city, on Tuesday.

The Association initiated three demands for the state board to see through. Their first demand was that according to “The Assam Educational (Provincilisation of Service Teachers & Re-organisation of Educational Institution) Act 2017” for the Upper Primary schools, the clause 3(l)(i) of Issue Date should be withdrawn and replaced by the clause 3(l)(i) of Effect Date. They demanded that along with the provincialisation of schools, the teachers’ posts should also be provincialised.

The Staff Patern (5+1) and (6+1) should be put into action and forwarded for provincilsation was the second demand, as placed by the Association. And finally, along with the provincialised school students, the non-provincialised school students should also be provided with free school uniforms.
