All Assam students’ Union protests Prime Minister visit

GUWAHATI: At the call of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and 30 other indigenous organizations, a statewide protest was observed during the NE visit of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019. Protestors raised black flags and released black balloons in the sky expressing their extreme agitation. During the PM’s speech at Changsari, black balloons hovered in the air, marking the condemnation of CAB. At Amingaon, protestors resorted to the burning of effigies, besides the display of black protests, which ended in chaos with the police authorities getting involved. The AASU has vehemently condemned the police action. AASU president Dipanko Kr Nath commented, “The State and Central governments are forewarned, if the CAB is not scraped instantaneously, our protests will grow and will not cease till the government bends.”
