All Bar Associations Stage Nationwide Protest From High Court To Raj Bhawan

GUWAHATI: The All Bar Associations held a nationwide protest march at respective Headquarters on Tuesday from 12.30 pm against inaction on the previous promise by the PM of India on March 1, 2014, for the fulfillment of demands. In the city, the protest march started from High Court to Raj Bhawan.

The Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim held a Joint Meeting where certain demands of the lawyer’s fraternity were highlighted, in view of which the protest was held on February 12.

The Bar demanded that adequate accommodation with well-equipped library and toilet facilities for lady lawyers are provided. Budgetary allocation of Rs 5000 crore annually for insurance cover, the stipend for new entrants of minimum Rs 10 thousand per month and financial protection to lawyers with unfortunate conditions, etc were some of the demands behind the protest.
