All-round development gaining momentum: Urban development Minister Pijush Hazarika

GUWAHATI: State’s Urban development Minister Pijush Hazarika said that the BJP regime has accelerated monumental development works in the State what the Congress could not achieve over the past 15 years. Rubbishing the allegation made by former chief minister Tarun Gogoi that overall development has been paralyzed in the State due to fund crunches, the Minister said, “Due to enhancement of MLA fund from Rs 1 crore to 2 crore during the BJP regime, even the opposition legislators including Tarun Gogoi have been laying foundation stones of various development works.”

The Minister further said that during the BJP regime 5.5 lakh students have been provided free admission in various colleges. He highlighted that an enhanced amount of Rs 25,000 has been provided to 1 lakh women self help group (SHG) while it was only Rs 5,000 during Congress regime.

Stating that each legislative assembly constituencies have been provided Rs 10 crore under MLA signature scheme, the Minister said, “Approximately Rs 26 crore has been sanctioned for Gagoi’s own constituency Titabor alone for various development works during the BJP regime.”
