Ambassador to Thailand Suchitra Durai meets State Cabinet Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary

GUWAHATI: Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Thailand, Suchitra Durai, called on Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary at Janata Bhawan here on Wednesday. The Minister and the Ambassador discussed strategies to deepen and strengthen the ties between both the countries, a press release said.

Interacting with the Ambassador, Patowary highlighted the sea-route connectivity of Assam to South East Asian nations through the Chittagong and Mongla Ports of Bangladesh as well as the surface-route connectivity through the Trans-Asian Trilateral Highway. The Minister added that these routes will open up new trade opportunities and result in mega shift in business scenario of the region.

Patowary underlined the anthropological affinity between Northeast India and Thailand and also referred to the age-old relations between these two great nations.

Ambassador Suchitra Durai suggested outreach programme for specially-constituted teams to accelerate business and commerce between both the nations.

Dr. KK Dwivedi, Commissioner and Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, was also present at the meeting.
