Ambubachi Mela concludes

GUWAHATI, June 26: The four-day long Ambubachi Mela at the Kamakhya Temple concluded on the morning of June 26. The doors of the Shakti shrine re-opened today at 58 seconds past 7:51 am.

The Ambubachi Mela that started on June 22 was visited by 16.35 lakh pilgrims from various parts of the world. According to a district administration source, “There were pilgrims from all over the country, like West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. A number of tourists and devotees visited from the foreign countries, like United States and Italy.”

Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal expressed his gratitude towards everyone, from Assam Police to the volunteers to the ones handling the Bhandaras, who contributed in making this year’s Ambubachi Mela a smooth and successful one. “31,613 devotees were registered in the five different camps located in Guwahati till Monday evening,” said the DC. CM Sarbananda Sonowal and Governor also paid visit to the mela.
