An ambulance of the 108 services caught fire while shifting a patient from the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital to a private hospital on Tuesday.

GUWAHATI: An ambulance of the 108 services caught fire while shifting a patient from the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital to a private hospital on Tuesday.
According to reports, the fire broke out due to a technical glitch at Jatia under the Kahilipara area here and the patient, 80-year-old Parbati Bhattacharya, was safely rescued by the locals. She was later admitted to another hospital in the area.
While the fire personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames, the ambulance bearing registration number — AS 01 JC 7128 — was completely charred.
