Amid COVID Scare, Cotton University To Hold Online Class Till January 31

Guwahati: In view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation, the Cotton University has decided to hold online class till January 31th.

In this regard, the university has issued a notice, where it said that all PG and UG classes including BA Liberal Arts will be held online with immediate effect. Depending on prevailing situation, further notification will be issued regarding mode of classes from 1 February 2022.

''All honours and PG classes will be scheduled from 9 am to 12 noon. The respective HoDs will finalize the Departmental routine. BA Liberal Arts will continue to follow the existing class routine in online mode,'' the notice read further.

The university in the notice further state that UG general elective classes are scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2 pm to 3 pm. On the other hand, UG and PG SEC classes are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 pm to 3 pm.

''UG AECC classes are scheduled from 3 pm to 4 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays,'' it added.

UG 5th semester Endsem examinations will be held offline as per the already published schedule and hostels will be open only for UG 5th semester examinees, it said.

It also said that the examinees of MNDP and SNBC hotels will be provided alternative accommodation in other hostels during the examination.

''In case examinees from outside Guwahati who are not hostel boarders fail to arrange accommodation due to COVID-19 issues they may submit an application to the Director Students' Welfare through the respective guardians and the heads of the department requesting temporary hostel accommodation,'' the notice added.

Students, who are given temporary accommodation will have to arrange their own beddings. Meanwhile, for the 5th semester students' who are hospitalized or confined in home isolation during the examination days due to COVID-19, a separate offline examination will be conducted at a suitable time.

Already notified Midsem examinations of UG honours, BA liberal arts and PG classes will be held as scheduled but in online mode, it added.

However, the practical classes and examinations are suspended till January 31.

Coming to Higher Secondary (HS) 1st year, the university in its notice asserted that the unit test will be held as per notified schedule but in online mode, adding, ''After the unit test once offline classes begin, HS 1st year practical will begin and they will follow HS 2nd year class routine''.

It also suggested that the faculty and staff should produce double vaccination certificates.

''Government SOP will be strictly followed in case of those not fully vaccinated. Whereas, vaccinated research scholars are allowed to continue their research activity in the respective departments,'' it added.

The university has also the faculty members to continue regular attendance in respective departments and will report to allotted examination duty.
