An Adda Ghar For The Elderly at The Residence of The Noted Writer

GUWAHATI: From Friday, citizens of Guwahati who are 60 plus, will have a place to meet, relax, discuss and share their ideas and experiences of life. The place will be known as ‘Adda Ghar’. The Adda Ghar will be inaugurated at the residence of the noted writer, (Late) Munin Borkotoky and social worker (Late) Renuka Devi Borkotoky.

The objective of opening Ghar is to give a place for relaxation and get-together of senior citizens of Guwahati. It will offer various amenities to senior citizens. Various kinds of entertaining programmes’, discussions and sports activities will be organized at the venue. There will be facilities for an annual health check-up, yoga and meditation for permanent members of Ghar.

A day ahead of inauguration of Adda Ghar, senior citizens from different walks of life on Thursday, apprised the media persons during a press conference at Guwahati Press Club about the new initiative. The press conference was addressed by social worker and Padmashree Ajay Dutta, Advisor of Guwahati Jestha Samaj Kashinath Hazarika, social worker Minoti Chowdhury, daughter of Munin and Renuka Borkotoky, Minakshi Borkotoki, among a few others.
