APCC Bus Tour to Sensitize and Aid Indians Left out of NRC

GUWAHATI: Concerned over the aftermath of NRC, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and Assam Congress Legislature Party took the decision that a high level team of APCC will visit certain districts of the State.

The sensitization drive was flagged off by Ex-CM Tarun Gogoi at Rajiv Bhawan here in the city on Friday. The prime initiative of the bus tour is to approach the Indian citizens whose names did not make the NRC list so as to generate awareness, exchange opinions and study of the present situation. The party termed it as a historical bus tour which is organized in four phases led by APCC president Ripun Bora, Ex-CM Tarun Gogoi and 55 other team members, who will tour by bus.

The drive will continue till September 28, 2019, in three phases led by APCC president Ripun Bora, Ex-CM Tarun Gogoi and 55 other team members, who will tour by bus.

The first phase began on Friday and the team left for Tinsukia. On Saturday, the team will hold public interactions at Dhola, Jagun and Tinsukia and on September 15, they will visit Lumbding in Hojai district and Rupahi in Nagaon district.

In the second phase, the team will leave for Bijni and have public interaction in the same place along with Dhubri on September 20. This will be followed by a visit and interaction in Bongaigaon and Boko the next day.

In the third phase, there will be a public interaction at Karimganj in the morning and Ratabari in the evening on September 24, followed by interaction at Hailakandi the next day, and interaction at Cachar on September 26. The team will wrap up the drive on September 28, in the fourth phase, with a public interaction at Sonitpur district.
